Foreigners in Turkey, who are going to stay more than 90 days, more than the expiration date of the visa or more than the granted exemption, are obliged to apply via the e-ikamet (e-residence) system according to conditions of the residence permit type. According to Law on Foreigners and International Protection, which aims parallelism in the application of Turkish and international law rules, prevention of human rights violations and to create a humanitarian system; ‘’Residence Permit’’, issued by the competent authorities, is the document of permission that allows foreigners to live in Turkey for a length of time and at specific place. Foreigners who have Work Permit is not required to obtain a Residence Permit.
THE PROCESS
The foreigner is able to enter and exit Turkey without residence in 15 days, with the application documents for residence permit and fee receipt. If the foreigner stays out of Turkey for more than 15 days, he / she is able to re-enter the country by retaking the visa. If the foreigner does not fulfill one or more of the conditions for the short term residence permit or the conditions are discharged, If the foreigner is found to have used the Residence Permit for any purpose other than the purpose of issuance, if the deportation or prohibition of entry into the country is granted and falls outside the duration of stay, short-term residence permit shall not be granted, be canceled if given and the expired ones shall not be extended.

SHORT TERM RESIDENCE PERMIT TYPES
It is regulated by Articles 31 and 32 of the Law No. 6485 on Foreigners and International Protection and by Articles 28 and 29 of the Regulation on the Implementation of the Law on Foreigners and International Protection.

FAMILY RESIDENCE PERMIT
Family residence permit is regulated by Articles 34 and 37 of the Law on Foreigners and International Protection No. 6458 and by Articles 30 and 34 of the Regulation on the Implementation of the Law on Foreigners and International Protection.
STUDENT RESIDENCE PERMITS
Student residence permit is regulated by Articles 38 and 41 of the Law on Foreigners and International Protection No. 6458 and by Articles 35 and 39 of the Regulation on the Implementation of the Law on Foreigners and International Protection.
LONG-TERM RESIDENCE PERMIT
Long-Term Residence Permit is regulated by Articles 42 and 45 of the Law on Foreigners and International Protection No. 6458 and by Articles 40 and 43 of the Regulation on the Implementation of the Law on Foreigners and International Protection.
HUMANITARIAN RESIDENCE PERMIT
Humanitarian Residence Permit is regulated by Articles 46 and 47 of the Law on Foreigners and International Protection No. 6458 and by Article 44 of the Regulation on the Implementation of the Law on Foreigners and International Protection.
